There is something so nice about a really good page turner. Right?!
I have recently discovered that I really enjoy reading! I grew up being a slow reader, never finding books that were gripping page turners except for a select few. For some reason, as a 20-something things have changed for me! My current favourites are Non-Fiction, Memoirs and Fiction.
Check out this list below for some of my favourite page turners and what else I plan to read this year!
- The Neuroscientist Who Lost her Mind – Barbara K. Lipska
Two time cancer survivor and Neuroscientist talks about her journey into madness and overcoming brain cancer. Quick read and I really enjoyed it.
- Someone We Know – Shari Lapena
It is definitely one that once you start, you don’t want to put down. Full of suspense and a page turner keeping you guessing until the very end.
- Love Lives Here – Amanda Jetté Knox
This book tells the story about love, support, acceptance, family and some of the challenges that trans people face. Her middle child came out as trans at the age of Eleven and about 2 years later, her husband also comes out at trans. Loved this book SO much.
- My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward – Mark Lukach
They met at eighteen got married at twenty-four and everything was going well, until once overnight Giulia became delusional. This is a story about how strong true love really is and reminds us all how fragile the mind is.
- After Anna – Lisa Scottoline
A mother who thought she would never see her daughter again after losing her as a baby. They reconnected years later only to have Anna end up murdered weeks after moving in.
- Educated – Tara Westover
Tara grew up in Idaho to survivalist parents. She didn’t step foot into a classroom until she was 17. Tara taught herself enough grammar and mathematics to get accepted into Brigham Young University. An amazing reminder that we can all do what we put our minds to.
- Perfect Girlfriend – Karen Hamilton
A twisted love story taking obsession to a whole new level.
This book is on my list to read, as soon as I finish reading #10 on this list.
- Wild – Cheryl Strayed
A memoir. After losing her mother, Cheryl decided she would walk 1000 miles of the the Pacific Crest Trail – alone.
*I have yet to see the movie or start reading this book, but I’m looking forward to it.
- The Couple Next Door – Shari Lapena
This is on my list to read. One of Shari’s 4 books – similar thriller page turner like Someone We Know.
- Chase Darkness with Me – Billy Jensen
He is a crime reporter and ends up working to try and solve the unsolved murders. Does he solve them? You’ll have to read to find out, but it’s a really good True Crime novel. I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
- Waiting to be Heard – Amanda Knox
Seattle girl on exchange in Italy who winds up in jail after her roommate is murdered in their apartment.
I haven’t read this one yet, but it is DEFINITELY on my list to read!
- Life in the Garden – Penelope Lively
Just a little book about gardens and seemed very “me”.
