Wow – where has April gone?! I left off with a post at the beginning of the month. So sorry that it has been so long. I’ve had waves of good and bad days in this isolation time which come with creative waves and days of little motivation.
So anyways, April and most of May now.. has been a lot of the same as well as a lot of changes around here.
I bought some books from a local bookstore Hemingways that has new and used books for a reasonable price. I ordered online and picked up curbside. I also finished reading some more books. Social Isolation means lots of time for reading 🙂
Just finished a True Crime book called ‘Chase Darkness with Me’ by Billy Jensen and it is a really interesting read! You can find my latest post on 12 Books to read here.
I completed my Spanish class which was getting hard for me to self motivate entirely online studies, but I passed with a B, so I’m pretty happy with that.
Started one DIY project, but haven’t quite finished, because I can’t get the screws out of another piece of my hutch so I can easily paint it. It is a dark green and had wooden knobs, along with a wooden section in the middle and a little railing on the top shelf. I would like to paint all the wood white, but so far have only been able to do the knobs.
Spent the day at the vet with Charlie. If you follow me on Instagram, you would’ve probably seen the story about this. I have 4 houseplants.. all out of reach of Charlie and one of them is toxic to cats. This was never an issue, because I have it hanging in my window from a macrame plant hanger I made until I took it down to water it.. then I WALKED AWAY for literally 2 minutes. I came back to Charlie having eaten about 9 of the Palm Leaves off it. (I’m sure it looked like grass to him) So I called the vet right away and they asked what the plant was.. and said that I could drop him off for monitoring or wait until the available appointment time. I felt better knowing he could be monitored, so took him to the vet and dropped him off. They gave him something to hopefully induce vomiting while I anxiously waited at home for the phone call.. He threw up and got a check up. Thankfully because it was caught fast and he threw them up, he didn’t need anything extensive other than some charcoal to bind to anything left in his system and some monitoring for a few days for any extra tiredness or worrying symptoms. Needless to say, he is totally fine now and I’m pretty sure my plant will be forever frayed looking. Haha
I am STILL working on my Paint by Number. I took a break when Matt finished his first one and then I got carried away with other projects. Maybe I should finish that soon. I only have about 1/4 of it left unpainted
We made these DELICIOUS Breakfast Oat Bars from Oh She Glows. I made a cranberry fruit centre instead of the berry one and the tartness from the cranberries was delicious! Definitely would recommend making them.
Been crocheting up a bunch of more dishcloths and some scrubbies. They are all now listed in my shop, so feel free to go check them out! I will be adding some Embroidered Wall Art as well, but they take some time to stitch and I have Face Masks in the works as well!
Follow me on Instagram to get a sneak peek of my embroidered work over there.
I posted a recipe for my Taco Bowls on Taco Tuesday recently, so definitely check that out if you want a new recipe idea. It includes my Fresh Salsa recipe and the most delicious Cashew Jalapeño Cream Sauce. You don’t wanna miss out!
Lastly, I would recommend supporting each other as best we can during this strange time to be alive.
