Lately, I have been trying to work on getting my eating back on track, as I find on weekends especially, the hours fly by and I realize I’ve hardly eaten anything by 12pm. So now that I’ve had some time off work for holidays, I’ve been making a point of trying to stock my fridge and cupboards with healthier options to just grab and go.
Now, breakfast is a pretty basic one for me. I leave for work too early to make a smoothie without waking up my apartment building and my roommate, so that isn’t an option. Cereal never keeps me full long enough and its hard to eat on transit. I will usually make overnight oats if I plan ahead the night before.
So here below are a few of my favourite ideas.
Overnight Oats – You can find my post for my Creamy Cinnamon Oats here. Easily can be varied with bananas, fruit, apple and cinnamon, etc.
Breakfast Parfait – Yogurt, Banana, Chia, Flax, Berries and Granola. Layer it all the night before and add the granola in the morning. Unless soggy granola is your thing.
Bagel with Nut Butter – easy to grab and go and the nut butter keeps you fuller longer than just a slice of toast.
Smoothies – if you don’t have a roommate or don’t need to leave the house really early, smoothies are my personal favourite option. Banana, mango and coconut milk is my favourite combo! Easy to throw in some spinach for added vitamins, because you don’t even taste it.
Granola and Fruit – Another granola option is to mix up your basic granola by adding a scoop of yogurt, some frozen berries, a splash of nut milk and some drizzled nut butter.
Anyways; I know this is a short post, but hopefully it gives you a couple ideas for easy grab and go breakfasts.
