It’s been a while since I did my last weekly recap, so I wanted to do a post to get you all upto date.
I finished reading Love Lives Here and it was SO good. It brought me so many emotions from happiness, to sadness and frustration. Most of all though, it is a story about love and acceptance and how they are key parts in helping people to be their true self. (As well as insight into the LGBTQ+ community – mainly Trans). Highly recommend it!
I also just started reading The Neuroscientist Who Lost Her Mind and so far it’s really interesting. I always found the brain fascinating, so excited to dive further into this book!
It has also been a month of CHANGE for me!
I LEFT MY JOB. Not entirely my choice, as I was covering for someone on Maternity leave, but I left. The hours were great and the pay was decent, but I was just going to work and staying comfortable.
No growth. Not challenging. Not creative. It was so repetitive that I lost so much inspiration for cooking outside of work! They say creativity comes from boredom and that is true. I came up with more ideas for side hustles, DIY projects and things I wanted to do while I was at work doing prep work than I ever did outside of work.
I have my casual job still and my VA Business for now, so I’m excited to be spending more time on creative projects that got put on the back burner.
I also enrolled in school. Back to the books! Currently enrolled in Spanish and hoping to dive full into Graphic Design classes come the fall semester. I’m amazed at how much Spanish I remember from high school! Really nice to be learning things again though. I always love taking on new projects just learning new things, so we’ll see where this all takes me!
Attended the Gluten Free Expo and it was SO good. I got some samples and bought some things, as well as tried the best gluten free and vegan dumplings! There are a few things that have a few too many steps to make at home (gluten free) and dumplings are one of them.
We also had a crazy Arctic Outflow the third week of January which made for some havoc for a week. Lots of snow, freezing rain and winds.. Lows of -28 with the wind chill which is REALLY COLD for the West Coast. It was nice though, as work was cancelled for me a few days and Matt got a couple days off school, so we got to spend a couple days together relatively cozy.
!I rearranged the bedroom so that the bed is sideways but better centred in the bedroom (also means Charlie doesn’t sit on the headboard to look out the window and smack us in the face with his tail). Life with cat’s I tell ya! Haha
I also finally joined the Beetroot Latte train and it’s definitely interesting. I love beets, but this stuff REALY tastes like beets – earthy is the only way to describe it. I’m going to try with a little maple syrup next time or maybe in a hot cocoa? Let me know if you’ve had them and what you think in the comments below. Is there a secret recipe I’m missing out on?!
Anyways, not a lot that is overly new. Studying, blogging lots and working on my VA biz, with sleeping and eating well in-between.
What are you all upto? How was your January?
