A few weeks back, Matt took me on a surprise date. We haven’t been out on a date in quite a while with the pandemic, so this was really nice!
He gave me a few hints, but I really had NO idea where we were going until we arrived there. I put on my orange shirt and polkadot skirt and hoped that it was a good outfit for where we were headed (since I had no idea what we were doing). Haha
Now you probably know, I am obsessed with lavender. I love the calming properties it has, it smells lovely, makes great drinks/food and attracts bee’s which is very important to be growing plants for our little friends.
We arrived at Tuscan Farm Gardens in Abbotsford and headed to the gardens. The lavender smelt SO wonderful. They have a fountain, a pond and little tables and chairs set up throughout the gardens. It was an absolute DREAM. I cannot wait for the day I can have a yard and garden like it.
Before leaving, we headed into their little cafe/store and I got a Vegan Coconut Milk Lavender Ice-cream which was so yummy and Matt got a Blueberry Lavender Milkshake. They have soap, tea, lavender wreaths and more that you can buy. I got a bag of culinary lavender to make my own Lavender Earl Grey or Lavender Syrup. Did I say I’m obsessed? Unfortunately they are closed for the season now, however they have an online shop and offer their gardens for weddings! I can’t wait to get back there next year to enjoy the gardens yet again. You can find them on Instagram as well.

Now onto those summer drink ideas. For me, I drink a lot of water and not really many sugar filled drinks. If I have juice, its 50/50 Juice and Water..
That being said, sometimes water gets boring in the summer drinking so much of it. This is where I like to make iced tea or infused water to have on hand.
To Make Black Iced Tea:
I save my Black tea from my morning cup until I have about 4 cups worth. Then I add that tea to a 1L jar (or jug) and top it off with cold water. Let that sit for a few hours or overnight in the fridge and you have Iced Tea! PS. Steeping your tea a second time means there is less caffeine in it, so you can drink it late afternoon and not have the bedtime insomnia. 😴
It you like sweet tea, you can add a little sugar to taste.
To Make Lavender Iced Tea:
Make your Iced Tea as above and add 1 TBSP of Lavender flowers to the jar. The lavender really comes through nicely.
Any other Iced Teas:
For other flavours of iced tea, I add two servings of the tea I want (Green, Berry, Mint, Lemon Balm, etc) to my jar. Add about 1 C hot water to start the steeping and then about 5 minutes later I top it off with cold water and store in the fridge. You can remove the tea before you put it in the fridge if you’d like or just strain it out tomorrow when drinking your tea.
For flavoured water:
I love raspberry, mint or cucumber right now. Super refreshing and you can use them for two days if you put them in the fridge overnight.
Other options would be Strawberry Basil, Lemon Rosemary, Orange Raspberry.
Lastly, if you like bubbly drinks – I really like Tonic Water with Raspberries if I’m wanting a fancy drink without the alcohol.
Let me know if you try any of these or have any favourite flavour combos!
