December is off to a speedy start and its a Friday the 13th! Ahhhh!!! I feel like it’s flying by and we have been blessed with some lovely weather here on the West Coast. With wrapping up for the Winter Break at my one job, I’m looking forward to focusing mainly on my Virtual Assistant business for a few weeks, instead of switching brain modes everyday.
I also have really been enjoying opening my Tea Advent Calendar from Bird and Blend every morning. Highly recommend getting one next year if you love tea. It’s worth it!
Last week, I worked a short week and took Friday off to go into the city for the night on Thursday. Stayed at the same hotel we went to back in March and really just enjoyed our staycation.
While in Vancouver, we went to VanDusen’s Festival of Lights then got some sushi for dinner. I had a Mango Roll (with beets and yam) and an Avocado Roll. SO GOOD! Are you a sushi fan?
Friday on the way home we went over to Granville Island to get some pickles and then made sure to stop at IKEA to check out all their Christmas decor. I almost came home with nothing, but last minute decided to get a few candles. I love the idea of more Hygge in my life, so anything to make the house a little more cozy for winter.
On Saturday evening, Matt and I went to GLOW in Abbotsford with my grandparents and this year the theme was Santa and his reindeer. Not quite as nice as the Eiffel Tower and Dutch Windmills they had last year, but we came home with a cute ornament for the tree.
Monday after work, we finally got a Christmas tree. A little late, but that’s okay. It’s small, but potted so I can enjoy it on my balcony all year long. After doing some research into the environmental impact of Real vs. Artificial trees, I decided I’d get a small potted one for now. I’m not in a position to be “recycling” my tree at the end of the season into mulch for my balcony garden to further lower the carbon footprint, so I chose what is best for me at this time. Since I’m trying to reduce my plastic landfill waste, I’m not about to buy a fake tree.
The rest of the weeks been fairly busy and full of watching all the Christmas movies on Netflix (well, mainly the ones I didn’t see last year) which has been really nice.
My favourite so far was probably The Christmas Chronicles, but I’m sure there will be more! Still have to watch The Holiday this year!
Do you have a favourite Holiday Movie? Let me know in the comments.
